Arrival by air

Airport

Prague International Airport Ruzyně is located 30-45 minutes from the centre of Prague. There is a good connection between the Airport and the city centre by public transport (bus) and taxi.

You can easily get to the city centre using one of the public buses. For the quickest transport to the congress venue, we advise using lines 179, 225, and 100.

If you take bus no. 179 or bus no. 225 (Airport -> Metro B Nove Butovice, travel time 25 minutes), you can take the metro from metro station Nove Butovice (yellow line, direction Černý most) to the station Vysočanská, which is near the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague.

If you take bus no.100 (Airport -> Metro B Zlicin, every 15 to 30 minutes, travel time 25 minutes), you can take the metro from metro station Zličín (yellow line, direction Černý most) to the station Vysočanská, which near the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague.

Unfortunately, there is no subway or train connection to the city from the airport. You need to buy a ticket beforehand. Tickets are sold at ticket machines or at newsagents in the arrival hall (if arriving late and all shops are closed, you can buy a ticket from the bus driver, but large banknotes are not accepted). Tickets cost just CZK 26 (96 c). A CZK 26 ticket for public transport is a transferable ticket allowing you to travel for a 90-minute period. If you are carrying any large pieces of luggage, i.e., a backpack or suitcase, you will need to purchase an additional 1/2 price ticket.

Transport from Ruzyně Airport by taxi takes about 30-45 min. (19,5 km / 12 miles).

Arrival by rail

The Prague's main railway station (Praha Hlavní nádraží) is the largest railway station in Prague.

The quickest and easiest way to get to the congress venue from Hlavní nádraží (Main station) is to take the metro (Hlavní nádraží is also a metro station). Take line C (direction Letňany) and go 1 stop to the station Florenc; change to line B and go 5 stops to the station Vysočanská (direction Černý most), which is near the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague.

Transport from Main Railway Station by taxi takes about 15 min. (6,5 km / 4 miles).

Important travel information

Public transport in Prague

If travelling by car, you should leave it on the hotel parking lot and travel around the city by public transport. There are more than enough good reasons, as car theft is not uncommon and supervised parking is expensive. The well-developed public transport network is an effective and inexpensive alternative. For this reason taxis should also be avoided, as it is not uncommon for taxi drivers to charge excessive fares, especially to foreign customers (the official rate is roughly 30.- CZK per kilometre, if necessary you should ask at the hotel beforehand).

The municipal public transport system has three metro lines and numerous tram and bus lines. The Prague metro system is relatively new and efficient. Trains run every 1-2 minutes during peak hours, and at least every ten minutes at other times.

Tickets
Tickets for up to 20 minutes without changing lines: 18 CZK per ticket. Longer trips or trips with a change of lines: 26 CZK per ticket. Tickets for several days are also available.

Currency and exchange

Although the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union, the official currency is not the euro but the Czech koruna – 1 Czech koruna (CZK) = 100 halíře (hal).
Foreign currency exchange is available at Prague International Airport and most hotels, banks and exchange offices throughout the city. International credit cards are accepted for payment in hotels, restaurants and shops. Paying by cash in Euros is also possible in some restaurants and shops.
Be careful at exchange bureaus: an advantageous rate can mean an excessive exchange fee.

Electricity

Power in the Czech Republic runs on 220 volts with a frequency of 50 Hertz.
Power sockets and plugs with two round prongs and a hole correspond to the European standard. The use of electronic devices may require a special voltage converter and an adapter.

Time Zone

The Czech Republic lies in the Central European Time (CET) zone. Clocks are set forward to Central European Summer Time (CEST) at the end of March and back again at the end of October.

Climate

Early autumn in Prague can be absolutely beautiful. The city is usually quite pleasant and mild with temperatures around 20°C. Evenings can be cooler and rainy, so we suggest you bring a light coat and an umbrella. You can view the current weather conditions at www.weather.com.

Store hours

There are no standard shopping hours. Shops in the downtown area can remain open until 8 p.m. or later. Shops in the outlying districts generally close at 6 p.m., and 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
